Theresa M. Vallerand Honored for Dedication to Cancer Registry Management

DOVER, NH, September 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Theresa M. Vallerand, CTR, BGS, Cancer Registry Manager for Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in cancer registry management.

Ms. Vallerand believes that the battle against cancer is a battle of discovery for each and every survivor, and that cancer registrars are their historians. A 28-year veteran of the health care profession, she is best noted for her expertise in cancer registry management. She lends her talents to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, where she is charged with ensuring adherence to all state and other regulatory mandates that govern cancer reporting and accreditation. Ms. Vallerand brings to her work the experience that she acquired as a certified tumor registrar, a position that she held for more than two decades. She considers being able to help patients in their last stage of life to be the most integral and rewarding aspects of her work.

In 2010, Ms. Vallerand was named a Professional of the Year in Cancer Registry Management by Cambridge Who's Who. She was also recently selected for inclusion in Cambridge Publishing's "101 Industry Experts" book. The recipient of a Star Award from Precyse Solutions, Ms. Vallerand is credits her success to her intellect, passion for her profession and caring nature, and to the support of her mentor, Carol Johnson.

Ms. Vallerand became a certified tumor registrar through the National Cancer Registrars Association and completed a bachelor's degree in general studies from the University of Connecticut. Deeply involved with the NCRA, she is a former chairwoman of its Ethics Committee and serves as editor of The Connection, its quarterly newsletter. She is also Vice-President of the Cancer Registrars Association of New England.
