TAMPA, FL, May 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Philippe E. Spiess, MD, Urologic Oncologist and Cancer Surgeon at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in oncology.

Having recently completed his fellowship in urology oncology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Philippe E. Spiess now lends his services to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, where he performs complex kidney and bladder cancer surgeries, reviews materials for research studies, and teaches residents. Dr. Spiess is a recognized specialist in kidney, bladder, testicular and penile cancer surgery with 10 years' experience. He completed a urology residency at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and earned his MD from the University of Toronto. He also holds a master of science from McGill University, earned in 1995.

Backed by an impressive academic resume, Dr. Spiess will seek to continue to develop his skills in clinical research as he moves forward in his career. So far, he has received the 2002 American National Red Cross Award, the 1994 Jack LaPides' Award for Clinical research and the 2001 Quebec Urology Research Award. He credits such success to his personal drive and strong upbringing and is currently in the process of writing a book with his colleagues. Dr. Spiess is a professional affiliate of the Southeastern Urological Center, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Urological Association and the Canadian Urological Association.
