EPHRATA, PA, December 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Wilfred A. Layne, Medical Director at the Ephrata Cancer Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in oncology.

Dr. Layne has 23 years of overall professional experience. As a medical director at the Ephrata Cancer Center, he is responsible for overseeing administration, medical oncology and hematology, acting as a clinician, caring for patients and managing chemotherapy. He became involved in his profession because he had an interest in medicine as a youth.

In 1993, Dr. Layne completed a fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed his residency in 1990 at the Jersey City Medical Center, and received an MD in 1987 from Saint George's University Medical Center. He was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1990, certified in Medical Oncology in 1999 and certified in Hematology in 2000.
