ORLANDO, FL, January 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Kristin Lynelle Cox, recent Fellow and Instructor in Diseases of the Breast at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of care for breast cancer patients.

Dr. Cox is a well respected authority on the treatment of benign breast disease and the practice of breast surgical oncology. In 2007, she continued her surgical training as a Fellow and Instructor in Diseases of the Breast at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences under the mentorship of V. Suzanne Klimberg, M.D.

During her training she performed the dual function of doctor and teacher. She lectured to third-year medical students at the University about breast disease as well as local community outreach venues.

Her research has focused on various types of unusual breast tumors and invasive lobular carcinoma. In conjunction with Dr. Klimberg and pathologist Soheila Korourian, M.D. she published a monograph in the journal Current Problems in Surgery titled, "Unusual Tumors of the Breast". Additionally, with Ronda Henry-Tillman, M.D, she presented her findings on lobular carcinoma at the American Society of Breast Surgeons Annual Conference in San Diego, 2009. This was titled, "An 11 Year Experience with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Using Intraoperative Touch Prep Cytology with Sentinel Lymph Nodes."

In May, 2002, Dr. Cox received her medical doctorate from Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Previously, she had earned her Bachelor's of Science in Biology with an Emphasis in Cell and Molecular Biology from San Diego State University in California. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1998 and was an active member of several honor societies during her undergraduate years.

Throughout her formative years prior to entering medical school she served as a hospital volunteer at Alvarado Hospital Emergency Department, worked at the San Diego Eye Bank as a Cornea Procurement Technician, and also tutored anatomy and physiology at Grossmont Community College.

An active member in the communities in which she lives, she regularly participates in various women's health care symposiums, while volunteering her services for free medical breast exams at local health fairs. Her other interests include the performing arts, gardening, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her dog.

Dr. Cox currently resides in Orlando, Florida where she is licensed to practice medicine.
