Cosmetology and Aesthetics School Recognized for Fundraising Efforts for Post Mastectomy Organization, Breasthetics
International Academy of Hair Design and Aesthetics was recognized for their fundraising efforts for breast cancer.
MESA, AZ, January 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The students and staff at International Academy of Hair Design & Aesthetics, 4812 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe were recognized for their fundraising efforts for the Bridging the Gap Foundation, a 501C3 non-profit foundation dedicated to helping women who are living through and beyond the disease of breast cancer.
The Tempe cosmetology and aesthetics school participated in the fund and awareness- raising campaign by decorating contribution boxes and conducting a raffle to collect funds for the organization.
The money that was raised will be used to provide nipple reconstruction for women who have undergone a mastectomy and no longer have nipples. The procedure, which is often denied by major health insurance companies, enables cancer survivors to have a three-dimensional nipple/areola created by using dermal re-pigmentation.
Rachell Hall, president of Bridging the Gap Foundation, said International Academy of Hair Design & Aesthetics raised the most money of any school in Arizona. The Bridging the Gap Foundation held a thank you party for the school and presented Martha Hoffman, director of education for the aesthetics program at IAHDA, with a special plaque thanking her, the students and staff, for outstanding leadership and philanthropy.
"As educators in the beauty business, we recognize how important it is for women to feel good about themselves and how they look," said Jessica Wolman, one of the owners of IAHD&A. "We are pleased to help do our part to raise funds, and awareness, of this very important foundation."
In addition to their contributions to the Bridging the Gap Foundation, International Academy of Hair Design & Aesthetics, as well as their sister schools, International Academy of Hair Design, 3350 N. Arizona Ave. in Chandler, IAHD, 7611 W. Thomas Road in Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix, and IAHD, Metro Center #10, 9617 N Metro Parkway W Space 2112 in Phoenix, are involved in various charitable efforts, such as food drives, providing services for the poor and elderly, as well as their signature, Patriotic Beauty Campaign that provides free haircuts and services for spouses of military personnel during the 4th of July week.
