Taylor S. Riall Specializes in Pancreatic Cancer Research

LEAGUE CITY, TX, November 25, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Taylor S. Riall, Surgeon & Associate Professor for The University of Texas Medical Branch, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in medical education.

With 13 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Riall is considered an authority on pancreatic cancer research. She brought her talents to UTMB in 2005. As surgeon and associate professor, she is responsible for treating patients with complex pancreatic and hepatobiliary problems such as pancreatitis and cancer, performing general surgery, and teaching medical students and surgical residents. Dr. Riall has contributed articles about pancreatic cancer and related issues to over 80 publications. She finds deep personal fulfillment in doing work that improves conditions for people suffering from these diseases. She attributes her success to her diligence and her mentors' tutelage and encouragement.

Dr. Riall earned her MD in 1996 from The Johns Hopkins University. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Other affiliations include the Southern Surgical Association, the Society of University Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the American Association for Cancer Research, Alpha Omega Alpha, the Pancreas Club, Inc., and Phi Kappa Phi.

Additionally, Dr. Riall is a John Sealy Distinguished Chair in Clinical Research and an editorial board member of both the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and the Journal of Surgical Research. In five years, Dr. Riall hopes to become a full professor and the chairwoman of an academic department of surgery, and make an impact on pancreatic cancer research on a national scale.
