Howard Erwin Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Laboratory Science and Management
Retired Lab Services Director Recognized as a Pioneer of Cancer Medicine
SILVER SPRING, MD, February 26, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Howard Erwin, Retired Director of Laboratory Services, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of laboratory science and management.
As the Director of Laboratory Services, Mr. Erwin was charged primarily with testing chemotherapy drugs, taking note of the side effects and attempting to mitigate some of those side effects, thus making the drugs more easily useable for cancer patients. He is lauded widely for his contributions to cancer medicine, particularly for the role that he played in the use of the newly developed drug Methotrexate. In working to make modifications to life-saving drugs, Mr. Erwin knew that he was truly making a difference for cancer patients and, in some cases, even facilitating patients' recovery.
Mr. Erwin received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Lincoln University. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
