Novartis Oncology Participates in Cancer Prevention Conference Organized by the Arab Medical Association
Novartis Oncology took part in the Cancer Prevention Conference organized by the Arab Medical Association from June 28th to June 30th 2007. The conference was held under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Ghaida Talal, Head of the Board of Directors of the King Hussein Cancer Center.
/Cancer News Articles/ - July 11, 2007 - In a lecture titled "New Approaches in the Treatment of Breast Cancer", Dr. Sandra Swain of the Washington Cancer Center spoke about Neoadjuvant chemotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer. During her presentation she shed light the benefits of "TRIZOL Reagent", a hormonal treatment now being used for the treatment of breast cancer. During her session, Dr. Swain alluded to recent statistical studies that prove that the use of TRIZOL Reagent reduces the risk of cancer reoccurrence or its spread to different parts of the body.
Speaking on behalf of Novartis, Mr. Osama Breiwish, Business Unit Head at Novartis Oncology, said, "The topic of breast cancer prevention is of exceedingly high importance, not only in the region, but throughout the world. We are very happy to be taking part in this event, since conferences like this one allow us to work together with others in the field to help curb the effects of breast cancer."
It is important to note that Novartis Oncology had also organized the 2nd Middle East and Africa Oncology Summit which was hosted in Paris in May 2007 and attended by Middle East-based doctors of oncology.
